I have a 98' ranger 2wd 3.0L auto. I have a trans shudder when it shifts into OD I want to change the filter and fluid but I can't tell what trans I have.

Ok I changed the filter and fluid today and I found two small disturbing pieces of metal in the pan. They are really small and perfectly circle. Also the magnet had a bunch of sluge on it. Is this normal?

I should really do this to mine... as i have a horrible upshift to second... and it ratttles uncontrollable if i try to go 0-whatever real fast, once i hit 20 im fine though... idk if your problem is just isolated to low or high speeds though. i have no problem shifting od to non od, it just runs at higher rpm not in od, which is normal, i think od adds a gear or something...

Now if I ease off the gas before it shifts into OD its fine. We had a Ford escape that did the same thing I traded that damn thing in! I really hate automatics
