State inspection today. Shockingly with 67,000 miles it did not need front brakes yet. Tires are sketchy, they squeaked by but I know I need new ones.

Got new tires. Mastercraft Courser Trails. Tread is similar to Falken Wildpeaks. Rides a lot smoother.
Also helped my son and his girlfriend move from their apartment to a house. The weather here might suck half the year but housing prices are reasonable and normal people with a decent job can afford a home.

Well I went down and picked up a new to me soft topper for a good deal from a buddy in Georgia. Hopefully be able to get it on today. I'll grab some picks after I do. While I was down there, he showed me some of his local spots. Was a good day. Got home late last night. Camped Friday night along the Georgia Traverse on the way down. Free hotel haha

Well when I went out this morning I saw this

I've drug this thing through some sketchy crap since I built it. Kinda shocked it looked like this after a 5 hour interstate trip. Fortunately it was probably last time I will use it. I was able to get the soft topper on and now with the added storage I will build something either to mount it to the front or side of the bed on the inside.

Now to start the redo on the bed setup.

I'm not that fancy. Mine is mounted under my bed and not rubbing on my brake line.

Not sure if you can see in the picture but my tire catches the edge of the rear Readylift crash bar (intrusion beam). They're suppose to clear 33" tires, but mine are 33.5". Looks like I need to take a grinder and file and trim some of the corner off.

You can hear them rub the tread when I turn sharp backing up.

An angle grinder, a file to round the edges, and some paint should fix that.

I could just be the angle but the wall thickness on that tube looks kind of thin. It looks like the fail points were at the welds, just like on my trailer tongue. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the bed storage.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I still have that other spare tire bracket for you. We just need to get together somehow.

That's the kinda places where Bigfoot lives. Just sayin'.

Sunny and 68* today so the Ranger got a bath and tire shine on the new tires. Took the sandbags and their rack out of the bed. New knee is doing well but not up to climbing into the bed yet so that was a comical adventure luckily not caught on video. Also did the wife's minivan.

Yeah the tube was some I had that I was planning on a light duty bed rack. The actual swing mechanism was fine. @ericbphoto built it. Ijust cut it and reversed it and welded back up. I noticed it was bouncing and swinging a little more than usual on the trail. Then those great Tennessee interstates I24 west to be exact are probably the roughest thing I was on all day haha. I will probably find a way to mount the carrier on the side of the bed inside at the rear. I'm hoping to then mount the traction boards on the tire so I can free up the rack so I can haul skis and the kayak. Not much else I can do with the solar unless I go forward with a bed rack.

A crank one? Sorry my memory is not what it used to be haha. I was thinking of building something like a chase rack inside and hanging the tire up high as well. So many ideas bit so little money and time haha.

I removed mine completely. Probably not the safest idea though. Plus I had to trim a little out of that honeycomb like plastic thing behind the liner. I still rub the liner a little at full turn articulated. Sounds like a card in the bicycle spoke trick, haha. But I also only have a 2.5 inch level kit on the front.

No. I'm the one that is mixed up
I already gave you the carrier. What I still have is the license plate bracket to fit in the middle of the tire.

Wow. I never expected that carrier to break like that. It's been through some rough stuff. Most of the tubing started out as a bicycle carrier that I cut up.
