Was the Splash package available with the XLT in '98

Just bought the truck at an auction and the invoice calls it a Splash but the truck has the XLT emblems on the fenders and no Splash decals. Could you have gotten the Splash package along with the XLT model?

If the bumpers aren't color coded, it's just a regular XLT stepside.

Decals could have been removed over the years. Not Sure if XLT was required to order the splash package, but would imagine so. Basically a sport model stepside. Couldn't find anything stating about the XLT deal.

Seems common to see them listed as a splash when they never were.

2.5L 5-speed. Had the same combo on a 96 I sold a few years ago. Need something for occasional towing that gets good gas mileage when empty to replace my Jeep Patriot that I'll be selling.

"Splash" was a trim level on '93-'97 trucks, the big feature of which was the flareside bed. As noted, it also included body-color bumpers & grill and unique decals. On 2WD models the suspension was set up an inch or so lower than non-Splash 2WDs (suspensions were the same on 4WDs)

Starting in '98 what they did was drop the Splash trim (along with the lower suspension on 2WDs) then simply added a flareside bed as an option for all other trims.

In '98 they did add the "Sport" trim package as well. It was basically just painted to match bumpers and grille as well as the fugly aluminum wheels

The "Splash" and "STX" trucks also got the oddball power mirrors in 93-94, the Splash trucks also got the thick 5 spoke chrome wheels
