I read through the other forms and couldn't find the exact symptoms I'm having, so I'll explain and ask what you guys think.
I just got this truck about a week or two ago.
1994 Ford Ranger 4.0 5 speed
When I got it the guy told me sometimes it pops out of first gear, so hold it and everything is fine. I was cool with it, all the other gears worked awesome.
But... Yesterday I was driving and trying to shift into 3rd, but it would t go. Like there was a wall there, wouldn't go into gear. So I went to 4th. Got to a stop sign. Wouldn't go to first or second. I somehow got it home.
First thing I checked was the clutch fluid resavor, it was low. So I filled it up and bled the system. Didn't help.
I checked the transmission fluid, it's full. But very dirty.
When the truck is off, it won't shift into gear. But only some gears and randomly will shift into gear.
Master Cylinder looks fine, and I have lots of pressure on the peddle.
Truck has 220,000 miles. Possibly the stock transmission. So that could be it.
I'm stumped. Help please!!
Thanks!
