Ok so I checked out the tranny swap page but I'm not as mechanically inclined as others, I need to know what manual transmission will swap with a 5R55E with the least amount of issues, I have a 2002 XLT 3.0. Any help at all is appreciated.

The only manual tranny that you can get to fit a 3.0 is a M5OD-R1 from a truck with a 3.0.

Are all 3.0 trannys interchangeable or do certain years match up... I've been hunting for this information also. You mention he needed an R1 what yr did those start or apply to? I have a 2000 3.0l I'm thinking I might have to swap to 5spd...

Thx for the help!!

The M5OD-R1 was the only manual tranny used with the 3.0. The 2wd and 4x4 trannys are also different. So you have to make sure you get one to fit your application.

The "R1" simply indicates the model of transmission. The M5OD-R2 was used in F150s and 250s. It is a similar design but is larger and shares no parts except for the shifter bushings AFAIK.
