I think a sun visor on any vehicle is butt ugly.:)shady

I usually agree, but I think that a visor looks good on a select few vehicles. I like'm on the boxier trucks. Gen I and II Rangers, 67-96 F-Series...

Agree. Keep the RPMs up in the 3's and the 3.0 does fine.
No mods required if you have the factory towing package, with tranny cooler and added brake controller.
I have a few mod changes which helps acceleration, not necessarily mpg.

Kids have used my 3.0 to pull a 2800 lb 17 ft Fun Finder camper with fully loaded cab
with 2 adults and 3 small kids, PU box filled with fire wood, and does 2 lane roads speeds fine.
Freeway speeds with the Ranger are a challenge if you are accustom to having a big block V8 truck,
like our 454 dually for a 12,000 lb 5th wheel.

Biggest problem is wind resistance on front of full sized 8 ft tall camper or enclosed trailer.

Have a good trip !!!

you sure it was 5000lbs? The previous owner of my truck pulled a caravan on a double axle trailer, he couldn't top 50 on the highway, the truck was pretty much bottomed out. And about that whole stopping thing...better give yourself a couple extra miles. He only had to pull it 40 miles fortunately, but it would have been better if he didn't pull it at all, his rebuilt tranny went out 3 months later.

Now the OP, he'll have no problem pulling that little trailer.
what gears????
if your buddy had 3.55's and this guy had 4.10 there is a pretty decent difference
