Torque Converter to Flywheel bolts

Just dropped a 2000 Mazda 4.0 OHV into 2000 Ranger which had a 4.0 OHV in it.The flywheel is pushing against the torque converter and I am unable to rotate the flywheel independently from the TC in order to allow the TC studs to seat in their holes. Ive tried putting the trans in different gears in order for it to stay stationary, but that doesn't work. Any thoughts? Tricks? Custom Homemade tool designs? Thanks in advance

Sounds like your torque converter may not be seated right (?) But I usually aim the studs in the same proximity as the holes and slowly line everything up. It's tough to do, wish they would have used bolts like Chevy.....

I've tried everything except pulling drive lines and moving the transmission back in order to line these up. That's last resort but my plan unless I hear of another option. Please let me know. Thanks

Did you remove the TC? if so did you spin in until it seated 3 times?

Dropped drivelines and slid transmission back just enough to line up TC studs with holes in flywheel. A little more work but successful nonetheless!!
