If its a 90, it has a D35... Ive seen a lot of 90's, and I have yet to see any 90 (ranger or B2) with a D28. Also, If its a B2 and its a 4x4, 99% chance if its a Manual, that its an FM146. Ive seen 2wd 90 B2's with M5OD's, but I have never seen a 90 B2 4x4 with one, only the FM146.

Best thing you can do to that rig is to rip out the A4LD, and replace it with an M5OD and BW1354M. I love the combo in my sig...

I dont doubt the M5OD deal, Ive seen 90-92 rangers with the M5OD setup, Just never saw a 90 B2 4x4 with one, either way, its super rare. However...

As far as your other B2 goes, I stand by my words until you post a door sticker pic... Ive seen a ton of 90 rangers and B2's, and I have yet to see one that had a D28. The only way I could imagine was if it was a super-super early- might as well be an 89- B2.

Either way, Id bet that 100:1, if you get a 90 B2 stick, it will have the FM146 and a D35 front axle.

Take your time and find one you want. The gen2's are easier to swap a 4.0. But if a gen 1 is what your after it can still be done. Good luckon your search.

88 or 90 b2

Thanks for the input now I am deciding between a 90 auto in pretty good shape for about $700 with a swapped rebuilt 2.9 out of a ranger or an 88 manual with a great body but need a good amount of mechanicals, for about $600' ....any thoughts and also posted this question Bout the 90 under another thread....

Ok , looking to buy a 90 b2 auto, with a rebuilt 2.9 v6, out of a ranger, after the engine swap apparently the manual 4x4 transfer case in 2wd it is actually in 4wd and you you have to shift into 4 wd low to get it bak in 2wd. Is this a major issue or easy fix, the seller hasn't fixed it but says it works fine just happened after the engine swap? Before I buy want to see if anyone has heard of this problem and if it is a red flag not to buy the b2, thanks for any input,,

Haha and tempted to buy both if I can't decide!,,,!,,,,

Ok - now deciding between a 90, auto with MAn hubs, pretty good shape usual rust, running swapped 2.9 out of a ranger with minor work needed OR an 88 man with auto 4x4 with a rust free body and frame like I have never seen, BUT had been sitting for a couple years so needs alot of work all around, including interior....any thoughts or PROS v. Cons __ 88 vs. 90??

90 all the way... 90 is the best year for bronco 2's, especially if its got a manual t-case and hubs.

I was thinking the 90 was the best year, like the auto with man hubs but worry about he rust on the 90, the 88 xlt man with auto hubs needs work but has a rust free body and frame which is uncommon around here...

So it is possible the 88 may have the M5OD trans if the code is M on the door sticker?? thanks
