1997 swb black ranger. 2wd for now :icon_welder:
i put some 30x9.50's on that i got for 35$ on some old jeep wheels i found and painted. i made a leveling kit that will be on soon. i also bought a locker and 4.10's for 150$, but i might wait to put gears in. oh, and i still have my winch from my pos toyota i got rid of. will put that on soon as i make a bumper. some girl traded straight across for that hillbilly. time for me to start new and do it right! :headbang:

plans:
get job (in school right now suck.. exept i am learning lots :icon_welder:)
sas via extened radious arms
d30 free from a buddy getting new axles on his yj
some sort of transfer case, and atlas would obviously be best... but who wants to wait 3 years to be able to save up for one?
i want a case that can be put to low gears.
33ish tires
bobbed bed
not sure what i'll do in the rear. somthing pretty simple.
i'll maybe use eb coils for the front.
sami t-case is divorced driver drop, and they have lifetime warranty gear kits, still not sure it would stand up to it though. we'll see.
oh and sliders too cant forget thoughs
some current pics:

Nice start! Take your time, I'm 3 years into my build and I'm still not done, but I've learned that the longer you take, the more you learn and apply those skills to something else.

Also, if your short on money, time will cover that too(trust me, saving $$$ takes time)

Sounds like a good start...what are you using for an engine? I'm assuming you have a 2.3 now? If you're not swapping something else in, you will want to use a ford tranny and tcase. Using the sami t-case is going to be a shitload of work that may or may not end in good results.

I guess I'd recommend a 302, C4, and Dana 20 or Dana 300 if you want an auto. Or for a manual, a 302, T18 or NP435, and a 205/203 doubler. And you'll be time and money ahead not using the D30 too, but it's your project. There are a few people here that run them with good results.

hey thank you guys for the advice. i am torn between trying to wait a long time or do it as fast as i can then fix the parts that don't work as well. if i put it like that though it sounds stupid to not wait longer at get better parts. i have a winch and got really good deal on a locker and 4.10s, and i am sure i will be able to have lots of fun with just that while i save. and i can make some nice bumpers and sliders in the short term as well. but if i get a free axle from a buddy and score a cheap t-case then no :icon_idea: just :headbang::beer::icon_welder::icon_welder::icon_welder:

Ah, yes. A man and his mighty welder can accomplish many deeds, or have friends who borrow the stupid thing every five minutes................................

FYI

you cant just pull your tail shaft housing and slap on a t-case. your trans needs to have the main shaft swapped for a 4wd main shaft OR you need to get a 4cyl 4wd trans.
