As weird as that straight pull bolt is, I like K31's. They are extremely accurate. Your K31 looks very nice!

Too bad that krag is sporterized...

The AR's are illegal to hunt with for big game in most states. The bullets are too damn small for hunting anything larger than small game. The others however, are legal hunting rifles, and aren't any larger than most standard hunting rifles. The Springfield and Garand shoot the 30-06. The SKS shoots the smaller 7.62x39. The Mauser shoots an 8mm, which is a slightly shorter round, and a little less of a performer, than the 30-06. None are really overkill, unless you shoot 20 rounds to kill one deer...

I use all mine for target shooting and collecting. I have a 30-30 for hunting.

All will be used to defend the right to keep and bear arms, if necessary...
cant go wrong with the 30-06, handloads are the shit, so many different .30 cal bullets from 55grain sabots to 220 grain slugs, love getting tracers, incendiary, armor piercing, i have a rem 700 synthetic with a 4-16-50mm mil dot illuminated scope, no problem shooting 400+ yards all day long, nailed a well pipe in the ground at 900 but took me a couple shots to get it, plenty of power left, since i started reloading put about 800 rounds through her in 6 months, wish i could post up a pic with this pos pc.

Around since 1906, the 30-06 is still one of the most common hunting rounds today. Not to mention it'll kill pretty much anything out there.

This guy does some cool, very long range, shooting with some classic military rifles. Thought i'd share.

74duster, I thought that was a gun lock at first in your picture for the origional post, now I realize it's a hi lighter. Never thought of using one of those to keep it angled right! Haha.

Found my picture I was talking about.

That's not even half of them..

Yeah, that would be hilarious. It would take full auto since it'd be so inaccurate at that range. It sure would sling some shot. Definitely a sweet gun.

Thanks!
yeah, the K-31 is one of my favorites, but I'm not real happy with the way the mount sets the scope off to the side. I might just pull it and go with open sight. The Krag was sportered when I got it (for $80), I thought about restoring it, but stocks are impossible to find and the barrel has been cut back. I like the 6.5x55 Swede round tho..great hunting cartridge. Still want to get a Swede Mauser tho (still sorta affordable) or an original Norge Krag (way expensive) cause I like the long ones....
