so i am pretty sure I am going to make my purchase tonight
sub
amp
8g wiring kit
150A AFS fuse (2;; keep one for extra?)
gonna get mdf, drywall screws, L-brackets (for securing to my cab) can i also use L brackets to brace inside? was going to use small blocks of wood in the corners too for bracing, wood glue (think we have some in the basement), silicon sealant (have some pretty sure too... regular caulking works?), what grit sand paper to sand the whole box after done? and was going to see if a local hardware shop has terminal cups.
do i need anything else?
Yeah just keep the other fuse as a spare, or toss it on eBay to make something back.
You can use the L brackets to brace inside, but you'd be better off making your cuts as close to perfect as you can, and using the glue or silicone and screws to keep the box together.(mine box has no bracing) Silicone/caulking more less are the same thing. I use about 80-100 grit for sanding excess glue, and whatnot. If you have a radio shack near by they'll have terminal cups, the only other thing you'll need is terminals for the inside of the cup, and speaker wire for inside the box too 14 or 12 gauge will be fine.

oh the terminals aren't continued through the terminal cup? will radioshack know what i'm looking for? i think there is one at a mall nearby...

didn't think the 150amp fuse would do any harm by having more than what my amp is pulling... i mean it just protects it more right? i hope it's okay....

read that if the fuse it too powerful, fires can start before the fuse blows... so i switched down to an 80 amp

online banking won't work right now (site errors) so i can't transfer money to my debit card... gonna try in the morning

looks like grand total without the mdf and minor accessories is gonna be around $330 for everything brand new.

The terminals are but one side accepts the wire, and the other side is normally a spade terminal, as soon as you have it in your hand you'll understand.
The main point to the fuse in the power line is to protect from a short, if the power line was ever to short out that will blow the fuse before a fire starts.

$330 is not bad at all; I paid more then that for my amp alone.

EDIT: tell the Radio Shack worker you want one of these.

oh okay i see about the terminal cups

i was going to buy speaker wire and terminal cup online, but i figure why pay shipping for them?

so i've got my amp, sub, wiring kit, that's it.

in the check out lane right now at amazon :) wish me luck and no damaged goods when i receive them :)

$374 for sub, amp, wiring kit including shipping..... they sure charge an arm and a leg for shipping

but oh well, i got a huge break on the sub, amp was a good deal too...

can't wait to get it, however i will be leaving the country on the 29-9 so i may miss my packages slightly... we'll see.

Yeah, those are pre-outs; if it says rear it might not be switch-able, but I have not seen a HU that could not switch.

what do you mean switch-able?

btw do the "patch cables" hook up to those?

i mean i am pretty sure two RCA's hook up to those, and then go on the opposite side of the amps power cable and it hooks into the amp and then basic speaker wire goes from the amp to the sub?

Most HU that only have one set of pre-outs can be switched, from rear to sub.
Yes your patch (RCA's) plug into those ports.
Yeah the RCA's "feed" the signal to the amp, who’s job is to take the signal and boost it for speakers or a sub.
