I haven't done it yet on either truck. I need good weather and pretty much a full day to do the job correctly. I try to do a deep clean every Spring and Fall but it doesn't always work out that way.

It's all easier now that I am retired. I do appreciate those new ceramic waxes. Nothing seems to stick to them, at least not very well. Brake dust is the worst. I've learned it's got to be removed.

I haven't done the wheels and the tires yet.

One thinĝ that helps a lot with brake dust is to switch to ceramic pads. There is still some brake dust build up but no where near as much as organic or semi metallic pads generate and as an added bonus, they last longer.

I've only ever put ceramic pads on one vehicle, but they only lasted a couple weeks. I had significantly (think double) longer stopping distances with everything else equal.

That is very odd. I've had great success with ceramic. I wonder why they were such a failure for you?

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
I'm excited yet dreading my spring cleaning on the bronco lol.. dirt road problems.

Gonna have to give it a serious washing in town since my electric pressure washer doesn't work with enough hose to reach my driveway.. and then give it a rinse once I get home to get the dust off.. soak it with bug & tar.. rinse.. soak it with iron remover.. hit it with some soap through my foam gun.. then wax it up.

I do very much appreciate living rural enough that dirt roads are a part of life... but it really makes exterior detailing stuff a pain in the rear -__-

I haven’t even started thinking of a wash and wax for the Ranger yet. Weather is too unpredictable yet.

We wont get solid sunny days till spring break ends. Should be good next week sometime as college week is rainy and cold, as per usual. I dont know why people come here for spring break

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I'm just going to take mine camping at the beach with 90% chance of rain and high winds. Let God wash it if it's meant to be clean.

What about the underside and the sand amd salt spray?

I ask because i live about 1/3 -1/2 mile from the beach and everything rusts here. I dont even take my vehicles ro the beach and they rust

I really should give it a thorough pressure washing after this trip. But I’m not going to avoid a trip just because I’ll get close to or into saltwater or mud or whatever.

This truck is 31 years old and pretty close to rust-free. It should outlast my needs even if I don’t do anything to clean it.

i guess living on the beach for almost my whole life makes me avoid taking my vehicles. i have had vehicles go from nice looking to holes rusted through the body in 3 years from taking them to the beach, even with washing them really well afterwards.

but if its not very often that you go, it is probably way less likely to happen versus my living this close
