- My credo
- Ambitious, but rubbish.
Truck: 1995 Ranger XLT 4.0L OHV, Dana 35 TTB, Front ABS, Warn manual hubs, Automatic Trans.
I am in the process of replacing all the bearings and seals in the front end of my truck. In the process I found that one of the spindle's interiors has been totally destroyed. The needle bearing came apart and chewed up the spindle insides pretty badly. One of the needles is fused to the spindle case so I'll need to replace the spindle.
The truck had Warn manual hubs on it with the appropriate spindle nuts and the spindles appear to be the originals. In looking for a replacement there seems to be a difference between a spindle for automatic hubs and for manual hubs. I'm not sure if the Warn hubs are from the factory or not since everything I've read indicates that Ford had automatic hubs originally. What is the difference between the spindles and how do I tell the difference by looking?
Also, in looking at the spindles, it appears as though they are identical but some of the parts lists indicate there is a difference between left and right units and some do not. The Ford repair manual lists the same part # for both. How to tell what the difference is?
One more question, in searching for parts I keep getting search results for 1993-1994 Explorers. Are these spindles compatible with the Ranger?
Thanks in advance for any help.
