Ok so i threw a lift and bigger tires on my 97 ranger and i knew my speedo would be off. I have looked up what it should be reading aproxamitly. How would be the cheapest way to recalibrate it so it reads correctly? And is the odometer and trip off now too? How would i do this myself if it is possible?

yes off. i believe the 3rd gens were still cable driven so you could probably get a different speedo gear

The 97 has an electric speedo but it runs off of the VSS on the t/case and uses the same gear as the cable driven ones. Which gear you need all depends on what you started with and how much taller your tires are now. Mine had an 18 tooth stock gear and I swapped it for a 17 tooth when I went from 31s to 33s and it's pretty darn close but does read a little faster than actual speed but it's as close as I can get.

Yep, when they changed the dash and inst. clusters. Still pretty simple but you can't program the speedo to get it perfect like on the 98 and up trucks, when they started running the speedo off of the rear ABS sensor.
