The shifter is sloppy as crap in my 87 diesel ranger, does anyone know where to get a replacement or a way to tighten it up? I know the tranny is not the greatest, but I don't have the cash to swap it out yet
Thanks for the help in advance

I remember reading a thread that said you could buy ?shims? from ford that went under the shifter. Do a search and check the tech library.

Checked the tech library, but it only showed a repair for the 90's style shifters

Go to your ford dealer. I cant be sure on your year, but for my 94 there were to 'plastic' bushings and wavy washers, one washer and bushing on top of and below the shift ball. In my trans they had all but dissappeared. Only bits and pieces left. Replaced all of them and its like a new transmission. Actually that did go along with a new transmission. But either way, check on that
