Ok, I've had 6 different Rangers and 2 of them have had the same problem. It is noticed when you first pullout of a complete stop for the first approximately 50 ft. It is a slight shudder in the drivetrain. The truck I have now is a 1996 Mazda, B4000, Ext. cab, automatic, LE, 4x4. I am unable to find the problem. Could it be a universal, they appear ok. ???????????:icon_confused: Thanks.

My 92 work truck does the same thing, 4.0L, ext. cab, auto 4x4. I figured it was either the tires (goodyear workforces) or possibly a loose transmission mount.

I've seen this twice. once in my cousins taurus, it was a bad motor mount. The other time in the same cousins trans am, it was the tranny mount.

Slip yoke on the drive shaft, very common.

Ford specified a grease to help that problem.

See the rubber accordian boot on you forward part of drive shaft? Remove its straps, regrease the slipyoke and complain when it recurs a few months / years later.

I never bothered "fixing" that.
