Ordered a Barnes dual something winch plate which got here today. Going to build a new front bumper this weekend that is much close to the body.

Man I am so glad I bought this sum bitch back. Every time I go outside and see it I smile.

Every time I walk outside and see mine is gone i get a little sad. But the big picture Did not include the explorer at this time.
I had been on the look for a small tracker or sami to build but I am now going to buy a new four wheeler and add some tatou tracks

that'll be fun. Ex wasn't ever really planned to be in the big picture, but decided I didn't want to bounce the ranger off trees and boulders, and this allowed for plenty of room. Hoping to get my bumper started possibly this weekend, but might have to wait until next weekend. Finals are next week

Had a break this week and finally was warm and not raining, so I went to work on the front bumper.

Old

First I cut off the old one from the bumper brackets so I could reuse them for the new bumper.

Then i sat the winch plate on and started working

added some gussets to support the front of the plate (I know my welds are not pretty)

Then I cut out all the mangled up radiator support

Before

After

Then I bent some 1.75 .120 hrew to start on the ears of the bumper.

Also got this back on

spent today working mainly on Ex.

went behind and used my screwed up scraps to make the pieces that run close to the radiator support. I also added some more scraps to go between the two tubes on each side before having to go to school.

After school, I added a tube behind the winch plate and the prerunner style bar up front.

Might be able to work on it tomorrow night, but got class all day tomorrow, so wont get as much done. Still wanting to add a pair of tubes going from the main bumper section to the prerunner bar, and possibly 1 running horizontal in front of the expanded metal

got it mocked up today. Pulled it off to finish weld and finish out the fabrication stuff.

Here is the mocked up

I also have the ability to rotate the bumper all the way down without removing it. I dunno if this will ever come in handy, but I think its cool

to get around the winch wires, I bent the tube in two places rather than 1 on the driver side

Next up was time for some cleaning up of the tube work. first I brought the two front tubes next to the mounts closer to flush, then I started working on these tubes that point down with a huge gap.

I cut slits in the tube then used a body hammer to fill the whole in

today's Pics

As you can see, my notching skills are shit and My welding skills aren't much better. because of this, I decided to grind most of the welds down smooth. Really glad these pics are blurry or it really show the shitiness. Oh well, I like it

After about 500 hours of grinding later, its done. I still want to test fit the winch one last time to insure there are no more mods that need to happen, then it is paint and back on the truck.

Hoping to start on the rock rings tomorrow
