Ok guys here's my ordeal, I have an 88 Ranger completely torn apart in my shop. Putting a 351w H.O. stroked to 408, 93 bj d60, 84 d70HD, C6, dana 20, one links, 40" LTBs, etc... Looking at it realistically I'm about 2 years from finishing, and the more I look at my 05 the more I want to cut down a SD 60 and Sterling to put under it. That way I will have a solid, comfortable truck I can drive to Arkansas or Texas to go wheeling and not need to trailer it, well plus I could use the 08 and newer spoke style wheels:D. Has anyone on here attempted this? What was involved in getting the tone rings and abs stuff to work right? Or should I just leave well enough alone and keep working on my older truck slowley but surely? Thanks.

If you don't think you're gonna finish the older 88 for another two years (which is easier to work on/swap), how long do you think it will take on the 05?

Leave well enough alone.

You don't need two rangers sitting doing nothing.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
run the sd axles full width and get fat fenders and run as much b/s as possible. you should be able to have the sd sensors work with the ranger abs system still with some tuning. i dont think they have knuckles that accommodate factory offset h 1 wheels and hi steer yet, but if they do that would git er did.

only was to go on a sla ranger if you want to lift and wheel it.

NMB2, No I dont know him. There isnt many places to wheel around here, flat marsh land doesnt make for good trail riding.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I think I could have the axles shortened and under the truck in a week if I dont play around.
How the hell you put pictures on here?!!
Excuse my ignorance, I've never messed with any of this.

If you can do it in a week, go for it I'd say :icon_thumby:

Ok I think I got it! Here it is all stripped down on the lift.

Here's with the Dana 70HD under it with disc brakes installed.

351 sitting in the frame rails, with a/c box notched out.
No pics of the D60 under it yet, wont be home till the end of February to take more pics.

Do you plan on boxing/plating the frame with all that horsepower and heavier axles?

Yeah I'm gonna box it front to back with 1/4" plate. Now that I'm going with the dana 20 instead of the NP207 I plan on doing it as soon as I get some wire to make a dam extension cord for my welder to reach my lift, some dumbass put the lift in the back of the shop!

I think I'm gonna put the one tons on the 05 on the back burner for now with the way my new position at work is. Working 28 and 7 doesnt give me much shop time.
