I replaced fuel line from tank to filter and now truck won't start. Fuel filter is working. Any ideas on what it can be? Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA

Was the line leaking?

Does the pump run?

Yes, the line was leaking and the pump runs when I turn the key to the on position.

Is the new line kinked?

Did you put a pressure gauge on it? What was the pressure?

No, line is not kinked and I did not put a pressure gauge on it. I disconnected the fuel line from the filter. Turned the ignition on, fuel pump turned on but no fuel came out.

Well it can only be one of two things...

You're out of fuel

Your pump is shot

all the times i have bought a used car that had that issue and is why the people were selling, it was they were out of gas or the pump is shot.

well, on diesels it is normally they didn't prime the fuel injectors when they ran out of gas but thats a little different

Not to sound stupid but if I can hear the fuel pump activating, can it still be bad? I do have gas in my truck(1/4 tank)

As Uncle Gump said
You're out of fuel
Your pump is shot

1/4 tank based on what?
If that is based on the gauge, then you do not know what is in the tank
Chased my tail a few times on faulty gas gauge
Add some gas to the tank, or rock the truck and listen for the 4-5gal(1/4 tank) sloshing around inside

Pump running is a good sign its working, getting 12volts and ground
But the "proof is in the pudding", no fuel coming out is either a blocked hose or a bad pump section, but electric motor works

@dmorris0821 ,
It may have helped if you had filled the new fuel filter (as much as practical). Regardless...turn the key on to run (not start) for 5 seconds, then off for 10 seconds. I do this 10x to re-prime the fuel system.

After the 10x, I go-to your fuel system bleed/pressure test valve port on the fuel rail and check system pressure; if you do not have a gage, just see if 45 lbs or so worth of pressure atomizes fuel into the air (a small plume of fuel mist).

Also, these fuel filters are directional.
