I just replacement my rag joints. The old rag joints were cracked and had a ton of play before they would start turning the wheels . I bought the Doorman universal rag joints and built them per the write up in the tech library, see link below

Once I got everything reinstalled and test drove it I noticed the new rag joint isn't all on the same plane..its crooked at rest. I used i rubber bushing at each bolt, maybe I tightened the too much? Should I add more bushings/spacers to get the rag joint back to an even plane? Maybe instead of rubber grommets I use a thicker nylon bushing?
See pictures...the rag joint with the shinny bolts is the new, the other is the original

Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Loosen up the pinch bolt on the upper flange and tap it down a little. In the pictures it looks to be a little further on the shaft than it was before.
