are you going to link it when the 9" goes in? And when you swap the 4.0 will you have to adjust the shocks or will they be alright?
not right away but yes it will be linked..Yeah I am going to have to change valving/spring rates up front. I might be able to add bypasses, we'll see. I havent decided if I really want to dump a ton more money into this truck yet. But D44 equal length is also going in after the motor. If im going to be driving even harder/faster with a heavier motor, I dont feel comfortable on the 2wd spindles.

Been keeping up/subscribed to your build for a while. Good job, and keep up the good work.

haha thanks guys, means alot!

Progress is slow as I am very busy, but I try and get a few hours in every sunday that I am in town.

Stripped the 4.0 out of the other truck, now I am deciding whether or not to cut the front inner fender wells and core support off and redo it with tubing.

Your 97 is looking really good, glad to see your upgrading to a 4.0. You gonna rebuild it or just drop it in? Are you keeping your Ranger a 5spd still?

Oh yeah you gonna replace your parking?
Thanks man. Because it has low miles and ran so well, i dont think I am going to tear it apart just yet. I am putting an auto in it for now. I will either go back to a 5spd or build a C4 down the road. Replace my parking??

My bad, I meant to say parking light. I know last thing on your mind with everything happening with build. Since your doin a auto for now you changing out the steering column or gonna do a floor shifter?

Someday I would still like to see this truck in person.
Oh, im not sure what im going to do about the front end just yet. Thinking about going to a newer style or maybe a one piece. I am going to put a shifter on the floor. Sold the column out of the other ranger already.

Thanks man. Cant wait to be posting action shots again. Its driving my crazy seeing the truck all torn apart.

Plus, with this truck and my dirt bike being down. I have nothing to satisfy my need for speed, causing me to take it out on my F150 lol which just got me a hefty ticket last week :annoyed:

Love your truck, and the pics jumping it at Huckfest. So much that im really considering building my own prerunner style 4wd truck and choppin my crawler up to use parts to do so.
Not sure if you thought of this since your now going 4.0 but an easy v8 swap that I think but might be wrong that you can stay smog legal is running Fuel injected 5.0 from 97 explorer and they did make some v8 explorer 2wd so you can use that tranny if you wanna be automatic, or you can swap in 2wd 5spd from 97-03 F150 that had 4.2 v6 same bolt pattern as 5.0 and mounts shifter close to factory location. The wiring with the swap is super simple on 95-97 Ranger cabs, my crawler is 97 Cab with 97 Explorer 5.0 engine if you have questions let me know. cause mine was auto now 5spd
