I’ve been reading around about Ranger grilles, and I’ve come to the conclusion that they have either a traditional style grille (where the emblem is in the middle and looks like every other early 90’s ford pickup) or the grille where the emblem is at the top (like the STX models and the first gen explorers) but I don’t have none of those, is this just a design choice from ford for the STX rangers and some XLT models have different grilles or something?

Keep your mind like an umbrella, it only works if its open... Continually learning.
The only difference between the Ranger and Explorer grilles I know of is the sides of the grille.

I guess the Ford emblem is at the top as well on the Explorer grille.

I've been running a chrome Explorer grille for many years on my '90 since they're more plentiful and with the white paint I didn't like the black grille that it started with...

In the '89-92 Ranger or '91-94 Explorer range there were 5 grilles (6 if you include the extra rare Ranger GT from '89 only I think), black and chrome Ranger grilles, black and chrome Explorer grilles then the Explorer Limited grille that is just a little different but was painted body color. You can Any of those are a direct bolt in (well, at most there's a couple screws involved... no bolts) so you can mix things up however you see fit.

It used to be black, the owner before me painted the entire truck from top to bottom in black exterior house paint

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I dontmind the Ranger grills. But the fiberglass front fascia, or whatever it's called, turned out to be too delicate for my driving. I do have an emblem to attach to this when I get around to it.

Your pickup bed looks different too. Did you remove the fenders?

So, how well does that plastic heat?
I had this one from an estate sale, after helping an older lady to move it she said I could have it for 20 dollars.
It works great for big brisket and turkey type stuff. and Saturday my brother came by and left me his little wood pellet grill, looking forward to giving this one a go.
Be a bit tight on turkey but he said split the breast and it fits right in, :)
