Hey all i was just curious if i could get any input on anyones experience with any performace tuning or chips. brands and how they performed. Im interested and am completely lost on this topic. i have a 1997 Ranger with a 3.0l and just looking for a little more umph. or if not a programer what other performace parts or anything i could swap out partswise so it is not as sluggish pushing the bigger tires.

most chips/tunes out there are not worth the money is what iv picked up here, the ones that do work i dont know much about so il let those who do talk bout that.

best results your going to get to help with pushing the bigger tires is to Re-gear your truck.

also a big help is making sure your engine is in good shape, IE: plugs an wires ect.

+1 to proper gears. If you increase the size of the tire, you need a lower ratio to spin them effectively.

Personally I think Chips are a waste of Money, Although if you upgrade your Intake and Exhaust you might get more power.
4.0 or maybe a 5.0 Swap and Gearing if you want power :)

I have heard good things about the Superchips programmer for the 3.0, but I guess I will just have to wait and fine out for myself.

any changes to intake and exhaust will need to be coupled with a re-tune of the ECU to see the full benefit.

I just ordered the superchips programmer and I got a 3.0. Just regeared to 4.10s in my 8.8 and I need to change my shift points because it's very off now. It may not give much power or mpg difference but they have many good things
