Looking at either Currie Johnny Joints in a forged steel construction. OR Ballistic Fabrications chromoly joint.

Both are about the same price with Ballistics actually being cheaper. I know most will say they hate Ballistic, but thats not what I need answered. I need to know which would be better for my application. :icon_thumby:

^ This. There's a huge thread on pirate about the turribleness of Ballistic. I'm sure their product is ok, but I'm very scared of a vendor who got banned from a huge offroad website for poor service.

I'm ordering heims from RS myself actually.

I dont see any Joints on RuffStuff's website. I dont want Heims. I want to be able to rebuild these on the trail if they fail.

I knew about the shit that went down w/ Ballistic, but I've never really had a problem w/ them...

My apologies. I read "joints" and typed before I thought or read the sentence after. That's a good question. I think I'm too biased against Ballistic to be of any help here since I'd vote Curry.

I was going to buy Johnny Joints, but after talking to a shop in town, I bought Trail Gears joints, for less than the JJ. They are similar to the JJ, being that there is no adjuster ring.
I've been running them for 4 months or so without problems.

The curries are higher quality than ballistic, not to mention I would never give them a penny...

I know you dont want heims, but search pirate4x4....I have NEVER heard of these things ever failing, even on retarded rock bouncing buggies, let alone a ranger. I HAVE however heard of a lot of 'rebuildable' joints coming loose and getting sloppy pre-maturely. Here are my ruff stuff heims...these are 1.25"

well, you know what i went with for my arms. that being said, IMO the ballistic joint is the almost same thing as a JJ, the ballistic joint just has a little skull machined onto it. the ballistic joint is also $15 more than the JJ and unless you want to buy a $25 "tool" to assemble them, you have to pay ballistic an extra $5 per joint for them to assemble them for you. screw that. you can take apart the JJ's with a pair of snap ring pliers.

1.25" rod ends would probably be solid enough, but they're pricey ($125 at ruffstuff) and you cant rebuild them. the currie JJ's and ballistic joints are both 1.25" rods as well

i like ballistic, they've never screwed me over on a order. i dont know what the stink was over on pirate and i dont care. ill buy from them until they give me a reason not to. plus, they were the only ones i could find that made a square tube adapter.
