Um, turn off the AC, overinflate tires, draft semis, coast down hills in neutral with the engine killed? I only do about 2 mpg better than you, but I'm extremely pleased with my truckie's fuel economy.

Do you have an auto? And generally newer vehicles seem to get worse mileage then the older vehicles for un known reasons.

Auto or manual trans? Regular cab or Supercab? What sort of load are you carrying? How fast are you driving?

These factors all make a difference.

From what I can see on this forum.......don't believe any of the exaggerated fuel mileage claims here.

man. trans. reg cab (cap though), no load at all. 70 highway (truck really won't go much faster).

Do you have winter blend gas in your area? It's normal for mileage to go down a little in the winter, although gas stations should be switching back to summer blend soon, if they haven't already. Make sure the truck is in good running order and tires are properly inflated.

nh2123. You are getting about what you are supposed to. The best I got with mine(and its an auto)was 27mpg mixed driving but I was driving like a grandpa. I can gurantee that anyone who has gotten 30mpg with mixed driving, has no ac on, no weight in the back and driving below the speed limit. Or they are just miscalculating. Be happy you are well within your trucks MPG.(Get rid of the cap and put on a tonneau cover. I bet you are losing a mile or two with the cap.)You also have to factor the age of the vehicle.

Your truck with the revised EPA ratings.(they test the vehicles under more extreme conditions now)

21city/27highway 23 COMBINED.

You are probably getting exactly what you are supposed to.

Most likely due to Ethanol blend gas. We have E10 here. Ford's don't detect Ethanol and end up running rich. When you get a tank of good gas you'll see a big difference. My 2007 2.3l 5spd gets 30mpg@70mph with "good" regular and 26mpg with E10.

Just another example of why we should only elect intelligent people.
