I am not ruling that option out. It would be the easiest swap. However, I am guessing that those are going to be increasingly difficult to find. Why couldnt you use a 5.0 from a 2000 or 2001 explorer? They used that motor up to 01.
Wow it took that long! Im shocked. I totally forgot about this thread. That explorer should be pretty cool.UPDATE! I received my settlement payment last week. I am picking up a '99 SOHC Explorer this weekend. Picked up Fiberwerx 7" Expo bedsides last week. Getting excited to start a new build.
27 months plus. I had to file court papers to get the insurance to raise their offer. First settlement offer was $5,000 with a &1,000 buy back fee. I ended up settling for $14,500 and retained the truck.Wow it took that long! Im shocked. I totally forgot about this thread. That explorer should be pretty cool.
I was fortunate in the fact that the lawyer took his cut out of the injury claim and represented the property damage portion for free. I did spend roughly $1,000 of settlement amount in court and appraisal fees. So in reality I cleared about $13,500.Sucks that you had to wait that long, but at least you got a fair amount (if the lawyer didn't suck up too much of it).
