haveing problems with the the truck overcooling ,the heat is there somewhat but the truck will run in the driveway and heat good than the thermostat opens and the temp gauge will drop than climb back up ,this will repeat the whole time running
When driving down the road the engine will heat up and the thermostat opens and kicks the check engine light on till it warms up than repeats

Will another thermostat be the fix as just put this one in ,it's a 195* from a 180 that was replaced earlier this summer ?
Is there some other underlaying problems that may be at the source of the problem ,

ran the codes and have fixed or replaced a lot of the sensors already as was throwing money at it ,before I found a scanner to barrow ,the codes where 11 and the others where fix neutral safety switch wire and got the backup lights while at it also po cut them

I had this problem with mine after I installed a new thermostat. I would buy another 195 thermostat and try again.

The only other thing I can think of is coolant level or maybe the temp gauge is wrong. These old stock gauges aren't the best!

My 93 4.0 and my old 89 2.3 did the same. But when I had a mechanical gauge on the 89 ranger it didn't move as much as the stock gauge. So it could be a faulty sending unit or the gauge itself.

start with a thermostat, and go from there.
