Hey guys a quick question for you guys. Tomorrow I'm doing an oem fog install on my ranger,it didnt come with fogs. So I got all my parts made a new wire harness loom for my fogs. A quick question though, with all the research I've done it says tap into the tan/Orange wire in the headlight wire harness and ground the other as a chassis ground. I seem to be a little confused guys say my lights will only come on when my headlights are on, and won't come in with the parking lamps. According to my ranger handbook that sits in the glove box (owners manual) it states on my 04 if my switch is put into the parking lamp mode my fogs will work, if that is not that case what wire do I tap for power supply for my fogs to be able to function with parking lights or low beams? I don't want to do the fog lamp mod in the tech library, what u guys think??? I have researched this for over a month on several different ranger forums. I've done the homework just found contradicting information in the process... just so everyone knows... I have the radio bezel w switch, a new fog relay from Ford, fog fuse, new fog lamp bumper valance and oem fogs w. Brackets. Also going to be posting a how to guide with pix because this is a pretty common question with no real tech write up to help other rangers owners out

I'm actually kinda surprised that it doesn't have the harness on it to plug them right into. You could always find a factory harness that would plug right in instead of tapping into wires then it should work just as the owners manual says. Otherwise check for power at the wire you were told to tap into and see if its a constant power with the ignition on or if its the power for marker or low beam. They will go off when the high beams are on but thats due to law and there are ways around that.
