no speedo

I have a 97 ranger with a sohc swap that i did everything is working got some evap codes but thats ok for now. but the speedo is inop check wiring all good speed sensor is the same from 87 to 03 i dont know what to do or check. any help would be great.

i am prob wrong but u might want to check the fuse, there is a fuse that you can take out that is for the odometer and the speedometer and the windsheild wipers,so see if your windsheild wipers are working if they are thenn i am wrong.lol

thanks i checked fuses and they are all good. If any other ideas im still pulling hair

Which "speed" sensor are you referring to...Might wanna read up on the speedometer and how they work page in the tech library to get a better idea.

Not sure exactly how you wired everything in, but a truck equipped with a SOHC engine has a different way of gathering speed data than your truck originally did. I assume this is your problem, but have no experience in a SOHC swap. Im sure someone else will chime in.

depends on the year the engine came out of dont it? i think 99-00 used the sensor in the rear diff for the speedo

I have the ecm and harness out of a 03 4.0L 4 wheel drive manual and the the truck is the same but a 97. im talking of the speed sensor in the trans the harness has a plug there for it. thanks
