no fuel pressure

i have an 87 ranger std cab which is the beater/parts truck im trying to get it running and the fuel pump in the tank doesnt work. theres not even power to it. the inline pump works and doesnt have enough to keep it running. can i just run a straight wire hooked up to a toogle switch. and this truck sat in water for awhile b4 i got it so im thinking the wirings fried

check the relays. see if you have power going to them.

might be a inline fues befoer or after the solenoid

can you hear the fuel pump prime with the key on, engine off (KOEO)

it makes no noise at all
then as before.... check the relays & fuse (under dash).
IF no power to the relays...then look for the inline fuse link in the cable either before or after the solenoid.

check ground wires & connections

Check the inertia switch under the passenger side dash.

im having the same problem on a 86 2wd, where is the inertia switch? what does it look like, how should i test it?
