Howdy,
I just purchased a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab, 3.0 automatic.
Previous one owner in Plano with only 27K (edit 27,690) miles! Glad to join the forum so I can learn about the truck and help maintain it.

Hey tojo92, welcome to TRS!
Great find on the truck, be sure to check out your rubber belts and mounts etc, just check against dry rot and such, sometimes those that set will deteriorate as fast as the ones on the road
Good luck with it all :)

A little follow up. The seller just sent me his repair records today.

I had inspected the belt and other items after the note above. They looked good, and the seller's records support that as they show that along with lots of other stuff, the drive belt was replaced, along with a total rework of the front suspension to address older rubber items. Age concerns, not mileage. New shock absorbers, upper suspension A-arms, suspension control arm and ball joint assembly, front stabilizer bar link kit, full wheel alignment. Added in a fuel pump assembly R&R as well. All done at the end of November 2023!

Knock on wood, but I think I got very lucky, as I knew it had been well maintained, but not to this extent.

I found the thread on replacing the cruise control buttons and ordered what I need to replace them tomorrow (Amazon overnight!). It's odd, but they are crunchy, almost like something spilled on them that damaged the material.

While I am doing that, I'll also do a brake bleed to change out the fluid as it is a little darker than I'd like. Found the thread on the ABS system and figured out its no big deal with ABS.

Next weekend, I'll be doing a coolant flush. Still functioning fine as tested by the non-normal 25 degree weather here in Texas last night, but its more brown than green.

Great site with lots of good info for a someone new to the Ranger world.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Thank you all for the welcome. Just fixed the cruise control buttons, although they are white lighted versus green lightled for background...but they function properly now. Also flushed the power steering fluid so it is fresh.

Brake flush later this week, then will be adding a receiver hitch for light Kendon motorcycle trailer duty as I don't trust the chrome step bumper and the 200 lb limit!

@superj ... Weather has been a bit cruddy, but I will add some nice outside and sunny pics when it clears up a bit.

Pics of the new cruise control buttons. Not too bad for $16 bucks from Amazon!

Nice day...so I got a few pics finally. All maintenance work (oil change, power steering flush, brake fluid change, added new rear shocks, added Curt hitch, new tires, light clean up) is done now, other than a coolant flush and fill I will get to next week. Truck has a few dings, included a dent in the tailgate, I'll tackle that eventually.
