Just brought home 97 Ranger. Extended cab, 2.3L, Manual. My new toy, basically. Some minor issues but nothing that keeps it from being able to run down the road. Has 248,000 on the clock.

Welcome to TRS. I'd start with raising the axles and checking the bearings and brakes all around.
That should ensure it will go and stop :D
Good luck with it man

Pics will be forthcoming. Brakes are good, wheels are solid (no shake in any direction when it's off the ground) but does have a shimmy at speed. I'll run it up to my local Discount tire tomorrow, so it might come home with a new set of shoes. It's got a good size crack in the windshield, along with a bullseye type star, so it's getting a new windshield as well. I suspect it needs a tune-up, because 65 is when it runs out of steam. I'll pull the plugs tomorrow and check them out, along with the air filter. Plug wires will be replaced with the tune up.

Color is a Light Prairie Tan, and it's an XLT model, for what that's worth.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Welcome to TRS. You've got a good truck. It won't let you down if you don't let it down on maintenance.

I got a new windshield about 3 years ago to replace the original with its small crack in it, and now the new one already has 3 times as much cracking as the original had :/
