So.....I was an idiot when I regeared my axle and forgot to do wheel seals/bearings.

New RULE....any rearend being built automatically gets bearings/seals.

What an ANNOYING job.

I tore my rearend apart, kind of annoying getting the c clip out with the lockright in there. Got the axle shafts out, and seals out, and then noticed something odd looking about the drivers side bearing....it was CRACKED.

So spend an hour and a bit getting bearings and sourcing a slide hammer.

Got the new bearings and seals in, shafts in, locker re-installed and refilled with fluid.

No more leaky seals, and new bearings in the process

Oh, figured Id take a pic and show something I forgot to add.

Ruffstuff 3/8" u-bolt plates, and 5/8" u-bolts...this also shows the leaf pack I had made and tweaked ages ago, 5 leaves and an overload, and they flex quite well.

itll be good, I promise...Ive got a couple tricks up my sleeve Im gonna use. This'll be a slow progression though, going to have to slowwlwllyyyy gather parts over the next year, as Ive got a wedding to pay for currently.....

trying to decide what to do....leaves or coils....I dont have much time or money for this, so Im almost thinking leaves to make the install smoother and faster for now....

Well, the 60 came stock with leaves didnt it? If so leaves would be much easier, unless its already set up for coils, then the coils would be easier

I don't have a problem with leafs, I might do a SAS on my DD just for fun using leafs and a D30, but if that isn't what you want, don't do it. If you want coils, use coils the first time. Besides, why hurry? Your truck insn't broke is it?

This is my daily driver, other than the wifes car, and also I only have about a month or two to do it this summer. The dana 60 is from an 03 F 350 so it would be set up for coils, but leaf perches are so easy to weld on.

My honest opinion, go for coils. But if you want to do it quick leaves are always the wasy way to go.
