I've found the Lucas only helps if the engine already has some pretty substantial issues. I used it in my Ranger for years to the tune of an extra 2 mpg, quieter running, and no smoke. Then I put a new engine in it and see no difference now that I have stopped using it.E fan will help,Lucas oil additive, high flow air filter, and Lucas carb fuel inj cleaner....on a 4 cyl it won't make a huge difference but things add up. I checked my mpg a couple weeks ago on my 2.9 and I'm getting 22+ MPG avg with 172,000 mi on it. All I've done is high flow air filter (cone),Lucas in the oil and fuel and a glass pack muffler...besides keeping it tuned up. My truck is listed as getting 23 mpg highway new.
