i have noticed lately that when i am at WOT one out of two times my check engine light will flash but then go away. today i was trying to pass a truck so i gunned it and the light flashed then stayed on. im pretty sure the code will say cylinder one missfire but i will tell yall tomorrow morning. the truck has 124k with new fuel filter, new pcv valve, clean air filter, good clean oil, autolite xp's with about 30k on them. my guess is the coil pack is going messing up. i dont know to much about these engines but thats my best guess. because recently its been throwing the same code more often. it has a slight rough idle but im pretty sure new motor mounts would help that. its runs great, plenty of power with decent fuel economy. i get about 15 - 16 on average and i have a heavy foot. any suggestions on too what causes the light to come on more frequently?
thanks, abel

Always start with the easy things first. Put plugs and wires in it. If that doesn't help, try coils. Just from experience, my moms lincoln aviator went through a handful of coils before the dealer got sick of replacing them under warranty and spent a week trying to figure out the problem. Ended up being clogged cats. The engine power came up, the gas mileage came up, no more misfire, no more fried coils. A little off topic, but if you get stumped, it's something to consider.
