Man... You can't make this stuff up. Went for an evening drive last night and my headlights were pretty dim. Figured I would toss in some leds. Look up the bulb type (9007) find the appropriate replacements on Amazon, should be a 5 min job.

It was not.

At some point the previous owner got the wrong bulb. Instead of making the rational decision to return it and get the correct one, they decided to drill out enough of the bulb housing to force the wrong one into the headlight.

Complete hack job. The housing was so jacked up I had to file down some edges so that I could get the correct size bulb in.

It's temporary of course, while I will start hunting for replacement headlights 🤬

At least it was on the passenger side! :icon_rofl:

I'm parting out an '01 Edge, If the headlight housings will fit, you can get them for the price of shipping

"will fit" has several definitions.

I appreciate you looking! I'm digging through Facebook marketplace. Might try a boneyard tomorrow. A surprising amount of gen 1 rangers on marketplace near me (NC)

It was the blue oring one in the pic. It was pretty devoid of markings. Best guess maybe a 9004
Um, well, the blue ring one has HB5 9007 printed right there on it. That is the correct bulb for the 93-97 housings.

To swap a 9004 and 9007 you just need to trim one of the 3 alignment tabs out of the housing and change 2 pins. I don’t see how they could have butchered the housing that bad… I used a razor knife when I did it to my Explorer. BUT, I guess there are people out there that can F up a free lunch.
