So I decided to start my own thread rather than to keep highjacking another one. I've just had to drop in a replacement engine due to the original starting to rattle pretty bad. The new engine has 84k miles on it. I decided to put the M90 supercharger on it using the Moddbox kit. I found an M90 online from a 1990 Supercoupe for $350. I plan to have it rebuilt by Supercoupe Performance. They said they can rebuild it for just over $400. They can also port it to allow better airflow which will result in about an extra 25 Hp. I've ordered the installation kit and it's on the way. One thing I would like to do is paint it black. What kind of paint should I use? I imagine I could just use a high heat engine enamel.

Yeah, talk to Bill Evanoff @ Supercoupe Performance… he knows more about those cars than all of us on this forum combined. He was the go to guy back in ‘97 when I got my first SC.

I don't believe I need those extra bolt ons so I removed them. This is what I will send off to SCP:

That’s what I was worried about! I already had to put another tranny in and I just dropped in an engine with 84k on it! The truck has 268k on it and the timing chains were rattling I asked about the tranny in another thread and it didn’t seem to be a concern. Someone said they have put on 130k miles since installing the supercharger.

That looks to be an early M90 with no coating on the rotors. They are a little less efficient, but you don't have to worry about the coating coming off.

That is entirely dependent on use.

The 5r55 compared to the a4ld...is a gorilla.....compared to a 4r70....it's a 90 pound gorilla.

It's off a 1990 Supercoupe with 139k on it. It seems to be quite tight. No play or rattle. Of course I have no experience with these so I don't really know. I degreased it today and it came out looking like new! It may not even need to be rebuilt. However, I'd rather have it done now along with the porting than have my truck down later on.

ok, only the 94-95 ones had the coated rotors and the rectangular inlet. I would not spend money to rebuild it except for the snout seal and connector.

I talked to Bill over at Supercoupe Performance and he said they would inspect it once they got it and if it didn’t need rebuilding they would just do the snout and porting. He also confirmed it does not have the coating on the rotors. So that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about. He did say they are a little less efficient but nothing you would notice, especially where it’s going to be ported. All said and done it’s only going to cost me $698 including return shipping. Going to take 4-5 weeks though. Just waiting on the install kit to ship now. Website showed 12 kits in stock but now they are waiting on a few parts before shipping! 🙁

I've been trying to find the post about the fuel pump and can't find it. A couple people said the fuel pump that comes with the Moddbox kit is junk and to get a different pump. What do y'all recommend for a pump that will work for what I need?

OK, I found it but the only one I can find online is 340 lph instead of 240 lph. Unless it's a typo in the post. I found this one on Amazon for the best price: Fuel Pump. It even says it fits my 2007 Ranger!

Running a 340 might overrun the stock fpr....

Usually end up capping that and running aftermarket adjustable regulator as well in those cases.
