The thinking behind the RABS was that it was cheaper than four wheel ABS and it would help keep the rear end under better control since the rear end is lighter than the front. In practice, not so much. It helps but not much since the majority of the braking is done by the front brakes. Old fashioned brake control via modulating how much pressure your foot put on the pedal and for how long is still needed on RABS trucks and works better.
