So, I have looked and looked. I have yet to find a lowering kit/parts for my truck. I only want to take it down with a 2/3 drop. I am more than willing to be rid of my torsion bar front end, I hate it, its rough, sloppy, and just plain cruddy.

I was looking at the DJM 2 inch drop control arms for the 98+ rangers, any idea if that would fit on my truck? If not, any ideas? I work in the middle east so there is plenty of time for me to do some research here. (wont be seeing my truck for at least another 4 months)

Thanks for the help

Control arms are TOTALLY different between coil spring trucks and torison bar trucks.

Below is a thread of a guy with the best handling setup on a stock torsion bar truck.... Pinched the LCA BJ to correct the angle, 1-off UCA's with uni-balls, coil-overs. Overall, he's got about a 2/2 stance on a coil-spring truck. He's got a jig made and would probably make you a set of those uppers.

There's a couple guys at RPS that flip the torsion keys or run 'lowering keys' and get 2" or so that way.....But torsion bars are sh!t anyway and the links above is the right way to lower an edge IMO. Out back....skys the limit. Flip kit for 5", add a belltech 6400 shackle to make it 3" total drop. Flip rear shackle for 2" drop. Options are kinda endless.....the front is the concern area.

*OH yeah...there's NO kits out there to do it.

Thanks for the info

I'm a member of gen-edge, just haven't looked there in ages. actually forgot about it its been so long, lol. I looked through his stuff, was thinking to have him make some stuff for me maybee, but then found out that he is no longer with that site and nobody knows where he is. thats ok though, I'm gonna have some friends of mine at home take measurements of the front suspension. then i will input it into autocad, and design away, everything from new control arms to coil-over shocks. get rid of those pesky torsion bars completely. Then it will be off to create a mock set, then have them professionally fabbed locally. thats the plan now at least. the rear end, I'm not to worried about. plenty of kits, pieces, etc. for that. may end up with a 4-link in back, but not at the moment.

thanks again for the info.

lol thanks for the vote of confidence! No, its just that i have been looking to do this for about 3 years now, and have been trying and trying to figure it out, and it just finally clicked what seems like will be the easiest way to do it. will definitely makea write-up for though. including all the drafted items with dimensions so anyone else can do it as well. :icon_thumby:
