My freinds old Nissan hardbody does something similar but more extreme. Its a 1984.
Hard body wasn't until 1986.5

It was the "Datsun720" from 80-83, '84 was the transition year from Datsun to Nissan. ('84-86.5)

My 87 Hardbody has the same issue with the steering.

That's quite a story there, in very few words :)

I've had a 720 and currently own a D21. "Old Nissan trucks" is one of the few subject/cars I actually know stuff about.

I did some hotshot deliveries of truck parts around Nashville about 1989-90. I used one of the company's little Nissan pick-ups
It was sure enough peppy, not just downhill either but equally so going up

Dare I say that the little D21's are just as or even more simple than a Ranger. Mine is an '87 with 280k miles on a Z24 motor, EGR delete, 4 spd manual transmission. It's like a cockroach. And there are plenty of other cars that I source parts from, like the Pathfinders up to "98, and possibly '04 depending on the part and/or person doing the work, and almost any Frontier and Xterra will have interior, exterior and mechanical parts that are the same or better than the old stuff on My truck. I swear they're like Lego Blocks.

I forgot to mention the Infinite QX4's are pathfinders, so Leather seats are an option if I could find a decent pair.
