The technical section shows you had to read the ID tag on your diff. also gives you most the door codes I believe.

Well... Depends on what you want. If you want something you can install yourself, you're probably looking at a clamshell type locker that just replaced the spiders... I believe they are in the neighborhood of $200 or so...

A real locker like a detroit, or even a new limited slip like the trac-loc normally starts around $280-300 and goes up quick.

The other thing, is you need to pay to have someone swap out the carrier... that gets you around $3-400 in labor just to start.

What are you looking to do exactly?

I have a limited slip, (not the Torsen) and while it's better than an open diff, it's nothing to write home to mom about.

Look on the door jamb label. What does it say under AXLES?

EDIT: By the way, it means you have a 3.73 8.8 rear axle from January 27th, 2000. You will have to look on the door jamb to tell whether it's a limited slip or not, i'm not that knowledgeable.

Easiest way is to light em up one time, if it does the one wheel wonder burn out, it's not limited slip.

you dont have to look at the door jam to know that you dont have a limited slip if you did there would be a L in the first set of bottom number also you are missing the first number in that set, but as tom said you have a 3.73 8.8. If you do look at the door jam you should see one of the following codes: 96= open or R6 = limited slip.

Oh ya duh. I forgot about that. It would be 3L73 wouldn't it?

Get yourself a Powertrax Lock Right. Goes in place of the spider gears. I'm probably going to get a Lock Right but i'm regearing my truck so I may actually get a Detriot.

If your not in a rush to get an limited slip/locker keep your eye out on-line, i just picked up a 8.8 with 3.73 and limited for 75 bucks. There is a lot of great deals out there
