This is maybe a question I probably already know the answer to but what do you prefer? Stick, mig or tig? My first choice is tig but stick is much easier to setup and after working in highlines in papermills pipefitting im used to using stick in any weather imaginable

We run a bunch of 'em....

My favorite is the ESAB 252 but the big machine is a Lincoln 350, then 2 Miller 251's, and a Miller 300 DC TIG (we run it 3 phase). The TIG and the ESAB are a joy to work with. The big Lincoln makes welding easy for our Diff covers (we keep it loaded with .045) but the 251 Millers are the shop workhorses used about 6 hours a day each. The ESAB is mine alone to use, I really like its smoothness but I hate it when every welder in the shop needs to personally tune the rig to match thier style so I save that one just for me!

Got a screaming deal.....

On CL, $600 and only 4 years old! Watch CL everyday, as shops go down lots of good equipment sells for way less than it would be worth in another economy than what we are working with.....

I use some machines at work that run on 460 volts of castrating power. I have a miller synchrowave 351 at my table at work along with a lincoln boom welder that runs off a stick power source which is a Lincoln CS550 or something of the likes. Our other Tig machines are Lincoln Square Wave TIG 225 and 275's. We also have some old L-Tec Wire box's from Back in the day

Other than that I use a Lincoln 125 plus at home with .030 flux core or .025 hard wire.

Kinda wierd to hear the little crackle of the small wire compared to the .063 flux core 309/316/317 LT0 - 1 and .045 2205 stainless wires that actually make some noise.

Any of you guys work around paper machines? If so, you ever see anything from Voith Paper Inc?

Mine...kind of a piece and its duty cycle sucks, but the price was right. FYI, Craftsman welders are rebranded Clarke...
