Honda is the best car maker in the world. I still don't have the stones to buy a new Ford. We've bought 2 new Hondas since '99 and never seen the inside of the service department yet--both are still in the family. Not even a bulb has burned out in either one. If you like it (I think the ass end hangs out too far) buy it without fear. Their motors are the best--I think all of the Indy cars are powered with Hondas. I really like our Hondas. Even my 23 year-old shitbox.
And your gay ass ridgeline:icon_rofl: . but seriously hondas are problemfree cars. My uncle now owns my first car as a beater, a 1992 Honda accord LX(all upgrades except leather). that little 130 horsepower engine made that light ass car haul ass!!! would smoke my ranger. That car, I never changed the oil btw I was a broke high school student who wanted a truck, is still running pretty decent with just over 300,000 miles. I can tell you that in the 2 years I owned it I gave it zero maintnence! Its still on original tranny and engine, Hell every component of that car is original except the interior which I was replacing piece by piece because the car was stolen and stripped. BTW I had a wire plugged into my lighter port and another coming out my door panel. I touched the door wire to the lighter wire to roll my power window up and down :icon_rofl:. But would I trade my ranger for it or any other honda? HELL NOOOOOO

that thing is so ugly...ugh i bet the gas pedal would get stuck on the carpet and then the brakes wouldn't work when you try to slow down and down shift and you would get in a wreck....stick with ford!
yes cause honda and toyota are the same, before you start beating the mighty ford drum you should do some research ford had to check on its international line of transits because it gets its accelerator pedals from the same manufacturer

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/28/report-toyotas-gas-pedal-supplier-woe-spreads-to-ford-of-china/

plus no automaker is perfect, when you mass produce something there is going to be defects

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/04/report-ford-issues-tsb-fix-for-brake-pedal-on-fusion-hybrid-mod/

don't get me wrong i love Ford but it isn't fair to pick on one company for problems all of them have, plus it's not like its a cheby:icon_thumby:

*sigh*...

You realize that of the 8 MILLION vehicles the recall includes there is still only around 200 cases right? This thing is getting blown out of proportion like every other recall.

That Firestone thing with Ford? 80 cases the TWO YEARS leading up to the recall. Once it was announced, 200-300 a month. Officer: "Hmmm, another SUV roll over, must have been the tires" *scribble scribble scribble*

For that matter the Prius's brake issue too, only about 100 cases worldwide.

I really wouldn't worry about it.

I've never owned a honda, so I have no personal experience. I have known a lot people who like them, but I've also known a few who've had terrible luck with them, such as:

My aunt had a late 90s accord that ate front ends and wheel bearings at a recidulous rate. When the tranny finally went out at 120,000 miles she ditched it off.

A guy at work has a Odessy minivan that he's replaced the transmission 3 times on in 90,000 miles :shok:

So I'd say they have their problems just like every other car company. I won't say their better or worse than Ford cars, but Ford is building some very high quality models right now.

My main beef with Honda is them trying to sell a car as if it's a truck (ridgeline) :nono: I have serious trouble calling a front wheel drive unibody vehicle a "truck".

I have had great luck with Hondas - just bought by wife one the year before last to replace our Expedition. Ouch that hurt going from the Eddie Bauer Expedition to a Civic. The $500 / month we saved on gas eased the pain somewhat.

My father in law had a Ridgeline, besides being butt-ugly, it was a great truck - espcecially the storage box in the bed. It's like having a trunk in your truck.

I just bought a 2010 Crosstour EX-L (all wheel drive) last Monday and searched the forums to see if they'd ever been discussed - I was not disappointed!

Yep, I totally get the hate for the body style - it really is a weird looking car. And yet I kind of love this thing. But it drives great, appears to have been well maintained, and is incredibly comfortable. Huge step up for the 30 year old Camry I'd been nursing along the last two years.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Looks like 90% of the cars out there to me.

True, but a little less so fourteen years ago. Now there are more comparable vehicles around.

If they are anything like my CR-Vs, you didn't do bad. A few annoying quirks here and there for those who do their own work but an overall dependable vehicle.

But since this is a Ford Ranger forum...

To be honest, I like styling of it. Is it a hatchback?

Yep, it's a hatch. Everything folds totally flat if you need to haul something. My only complaint is the visibility out the back is pretty atrocious the way the hatch glass is split.
