Long time no post, but Ive been busy completely changing my whole truck. Details on all that later. I was just wondering, has anyone removed their jump seats and replaced it with anything else? Im redoing/customizing my interior and I dont think im gunna put them back in and have been trying to think of something nifty to do with the extra space. Any ideas?

You can put speakers back there. Just not enough room back there to add any other seating (saftey wise for sure). Maybe one racing type seat with proper seat belts. I know there is someone on this site that was going to or did add something like that and posted it. Might want to search on back seat upgrade?

most people make sub enclosures to fit there.
if u want u could make a custom tool box on one and a sub enclosure on the other one.

Yeah, I had already been thinking about a race bucket in the back. I am going prerunner style with my truck and dont think i will need a sub in it. The toolbox idea sounds good. hmm, maybe a cooler of some sort in one?

I vote toilet. Just use current jump seat, carve hole int the bottom and place a bucket under it! You know that would be the most used feature on a truck!

The seats were an option, you could try and find a truck in the junkyard that doesn't have seats, they just have a compartment there.

Had no idea about that. Thanks, I will look into that.

Haha toilet. I don't to smell s**t everywhere I go. Plus, I made a bumper dumper back in high school. I can put that to some use haha.

Here's one creative use that i have seen in person.

As you can see, I used wood. Easy to get, use, and shape.

There is enough room or 5 ammo cans. Plenty.

The cubby holes at the ends will match the trim that goes back behind the jump seats. These will hold extra stuff, maybe even extra liquids, etc.

There is plenty of seat clearance. This is with the seat where I usually have it while driving.

And this is it with the seat reclined....for naps and such.

Overall.....it's a bitch to get in and out, I still need to solid mount it to the cab....and the biggest question.....what to cover it with????

Sand and Paint?
Some sort of vehicle fabric?
Bedliner material?

Give opinions....please....:icon_confused:
Went looking for something to cover it, and just happened to be at wal-mart of all places and find gray "vehicle replacement carpet". $8 a roll, I can't resist to pick up a couple rolls. That and some staples, paired with 3M brand spray glue came up with this.........

I had to take it apart in order to fit the carpet, but it wasn't too much of a hassle. This is the first part I did. Looked good, and I was a little excited.....decided to proceed.

Overall the carpet wasn't as hard to lay as I thought it would be. The spray glue is awesome, and the staples held the whole deal at the ends well. This is an example of a corner.

Finally got it in. Boy, is it a stubborn piece of wood. Fought, and fought. But it's in now.

Amp and Ipod hook up.

Finished Product!

A center console is in the planning stages. It's gonna go all the way up the dash. It will provide a place to run wiring and house the 4x4 control module, as I'm not putting carpet back in. Instead I'm slathering some bedliner on the floor boards and under the seats and running floor mats. Easy to clean and inexpensive.
Added an essential piece any off-roader or country road traveler should invest in!

A fire extinguisher!

Hey, thats some pretty nifty work. I will keep that one in mind. Maybe do something like that on either side of a rear mounted race seat.

I removed the one behind the drivers seat and am installing a old steel tool box that is a decent size about 18"H x 16"D x 3"L, Plans are using it for food or clothe storage when we go camping. I am leaving the passenger jump seat in so one of the grandkids can go along.

I would have suggested a lockable low profile full-width tool box, but I like CHKNFKR's idea a lot. Something to think about is that you can get ammo cans in many different dimensions. You could make use of them in coordination with the wood idea above. Bolt them in for a solid or removable tool box/storage. If you had two lockable compartments, you could legally carry firearms also. One for the ammo, one for the weapon.
