I know there are a few JD enthusiasts on here so does anyone know what size or belt number fits the mower deck, mine just broke and wrapped itself around everything. And before anyone suggest it ,yes I will check the bearings on the pulleys before I go any further. Any help would be much appreciated.

I went on JD Part's website... this should be the belt you need: "M88184"

That is the primary belt on the mower deck... but here's the link for you to look at, because there's two deck belts...
https://jdparts.deere.com/servlet/com.deere.u90.jdparts.view.servlets.searchcontroller.EquipmentSearchControllerPartType?userAction=selectPartType

(Just select belts, and if will give you the list)

If you are unsure if this is the correct belt, look on the belt that broke, and see if there is a number on it... you can also go to your local John Deere dealer if you have one, and they can look the part up (will probably be the same thing I found) and can get you the belt.

Hope this helped.

Edit: And here's a dealer list for dealers close to you if you didn't know about any: http://dealerlocator.deere.com/servlet/DealerLocator?command=locate&locator=3&selectLocale=en_US&selectCountry=CAN&selectProduct=21&locale=en_US&countryCode=CAN&option=L&street=&city=St. Bruno&state=Quebec&postalCode=&radius=&uom=KM&limit=5&groupType=3&groupCode=21&valid=1&showLocales=en_US:en_CA:fr_CA:es_MX&showCountries=USA:CAN&sessionId=pChXD81ip8kEonzqmlO-e_-

Thank you very much I'll let you know how it works out. I did have a bearing gone on the tensioner pulley by the way.

Well I went on the web site. and what a hell of a thing to try to navigate through, crashed out one computer so went to another, better but not great, then went to the find a dealer, great, there's supposed to be one about twelve klicks away, request directions and and it shows its location two towns away and I know it's not there as I know that area quite well. so I try to find the place on mapquest, no joy. Fed up now with all this electronic crap i resort to paper maps and according to the maps the address does not exist. Thought about trying the phone but I always end up with someone who does not speak english and that usually results with two people being pissed off. all modern approaches being exhausted at this time I figure. a ha! go the the local hardware store and see the little old lady, Yahoo, should have done that first and saved myself a lot of grief, 65 inch long half inch wide belt. little old lady saves the day again. Yes I did put new bearings in and also replaced the damaged shaft.

Thanks again for the help. works like a charm again.

They pretty much have two sites, one is the parts book thing and the other is the parts lookup part that was posted earlier.

The parts book is here:

http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.TopNavServlet?irand=2674278012977505504

Look up what you need in the parts book and go the lookup thing to check out pricing and availability (you have to make a free account) They have the best system out there bar-none, everybody has the internet parts book thing but only JD has the lookup thing. I use it every day at work to check pricing and guestimate if they have what we need or if they can transfer from a sister dealership (usually that day) It can cross other numbers to JD parts, and you can select parts by description which is sweet.

A big job, like say going thru a 4450 transmission where there is a more than a couple parts... the electronic parts book is the way to go. Adding crap to the cart printing it off and faxing it down there blows the snot out of looking it up in the book and writing each number down clearly and correctly and then faxing it down there. The email orders do a weird thing where they ship parts to the dealer rather than use the dealer's stock... otherwise that would by far and away be the best way to go.

Having disposible papers is nice too, so you can take them afield without worrying about destroying a book worth a couple hundred bucks... and you don't have to have a book for everything.

Older stuff is in PDF but goes back to the '30's... which is phenominal IMO.
