well today the head gasket blew on my 2.9liter and ive decided that rather than fix it and have to deal with it all over again, im just gunna swap to a 4.0. I need a lot of help though.. what year of rangers/explorers can i get the donor engine from? and what all do i need to grab from the donor? any help or reccomendations is great. thanks

i am considering swapping a 4 liter out of a 1996 explorer. how difficult would that be to do? ive looked through the tech library and havent found an answer on if this is even possible yet.

From what I have researched, get the entire vehicle and swap anything that connects to the motor and tranny and also the passive antitheft device. People say park them side by side and start swapping. I considered it before I rebuilt my 3.0 but couldnt find a wrecked explorer at a reasonable price. I am however seriously considering building a 302 and doing THAT swap......would love to hear how this turns out!
