Could it be the slip joint on the passenger side shaft?
it could be. im about to tear into everything. i forgot i did smell melting rubber on the way home from the trail which is only about 15 minutes from my driveway

3.45, I was going to steal the calipers and brake pads since they are brand new and scrap the rest. You can have it all though if you wanna come up for it. Rotors are brand new too, I just can't use them on my D35.

I have those 4.10 gears sitting here too for the D28 and 7.5.

Edit: Sorry the calipers aren't new. The way I worded it sounds like they were.

let me take my d28 apart and see what I find. depending on the damage i may take you up on that offer and somehow come up with some extra cash for the 4.10's.

back to the grind... maybe i need some

Lol just let me know. I'll make you a deal. I need a rear leaf spring hanger. Find me one of those, Let me keep the radius arms from the D28, and give me $100. I'll let you have both front and rear axles new brakes all around, hubs, and the 4.10s.

Yeah the stock hanger. The thing rivited to the chassis (not the shackle). I may end up picking one up somewhere if I can find it. So maybe $130 for all?

I think its a good deal for all of it. The axles are really just taking up space.

Yes it comes off. BFH and a 2x4 to absorb the impact. You have to beat it from every angle, they get rusted on there real bad. Wire wheel the area where it touches the knuckle and coat it with antiseize, makes it easier to get off later.

alright finally got it off. the axle shaft/ u joint/wheel bearings/manual hub all seem to be fine. however I did find something not good. My drop plate for my pass side beam is way lose... now, it being lose will make the beam move around in every direction possible. now my question is could that possibly be the answer to all this noise im hearing and feeling? cause if it's lose its going to throw everything else that ties into that beam off...?

any thoughts comments or concerns haha?

It could be, I had my passenger lift bracket come loose on mine, but it only made a squeaking noise and an occasional rattle. But I couldn't tell wich was wich because my driver side drop bracket had broken, so everything was pretty screwed. Bolt it back together and test it.

i just finished bolting everything back together. totally cleaned the bearings and re-greased them along with the hub. also got some of those J shaped coil retainer things from a f150 and installed those... they should keep my coils in place.

Hose clamps work great for keeping coils in place too. :icon_thumby:
