After years of second-hand Ranger experiences with MountainMike I finally picked up one of my own. It's a 1996 XLT 4X4. 4.0, auto trans, manual t-case. Picked it up for $650, and it may or may not need an engine. Mike and I are going to play with it a bit Saturday evening after it gets delivered.

Looks like a pretty decent start. The body looks to be in good shape from that one picture. I like the cab visor. Wish I could find one for mine.

I know that they make them, but last I checked they weren't on their site anymore. I know they can be found on other sites, but that is pretty low on priorities right now.

I got a pretty decent deal on my truck. I paid 650 for it back in 2011. It looked decent and ran good when I bought it... That all changed when I decided to tear it apart and rework some of the old stuff that previous owners did and that led to more and more deconstruction of the truck. Now it just sits in the yard with no bed or rear wheels on it and half of the engine torn apart awaiting the 351w swap.

Hooning is basically any kind of spirited driving, it started with rally drivers.

Well technically if you get a ford, no matter what ford, and no matter what year or model, no matter what kind of deal you get on it, and you tear it apart and just leave it in the yard you're not a full F-O-R-D man, simply a F-O man...as in it's waitin fo' me to get this or get that, or sell that Bricklin and buy a new motor.

Trust me. I'm a Ford man. Will be until the day I die. I've had 3 already so far and still have 2 of them. Just one is going to be pulled apart for parts for the other. I just haven't had the time or money to do the things it needs. I actually really miss working on the Ranger. It was frustrating but fun and somewhat stress relieving.

So good news/bad news update. The engine is a little farther gone than I had hoped but it's got 3.73s and LSD rear. Drained the oil out and there were some signs of coolant in it. And the filter was a massive headache. I couldn't get it, my dad couldn't get it, and after a bunch of work Mike eventually got it out. Stupid FRAM and stupid no oil on the gasket whoever did it last time.

Looks good though
