Haven't owned a Ford since high school, it was that awesome bright blue 95 Explorer. Back in the game now 15+ years later with a 91 Ranger 2.9, auto, 4x4 that I got for next to nothing.

Here she is after a quick wash:

74055

Pretty good shape but it's leaking oil all over the place. Looks like both valve covers are oozing oil and p/s as well.

I replaced the power steering lines yesterday, got everything installed and unfortunately it's still leaking. It's coming from between the pump housing and adapter nut that the high pressure line threads into, as shown in this picture(not mine)

74056

Does anyone have a part number for this nut? I already tried cranking down on the nut with a large adjustable wrench and it's already torqued down as far as it'll go.

I also noticed that the hard line that threads into the nut didn't thread all the way down to seat on the plastic seal, although that wasn't leaking when I ran it for a few minutes. Thanks in advance!

@pistol ,

The nut is sold with the hydraulic line it was built on. Any automotive parts store/Depot can sell/order you a replacement line.

I recommend purchasing the "LINE" wrenches needed to remove and install these components, instead of an adjustable wrench.

I already replaced the power steering lines. I'm referring to the nut that the line threads into that is on the pump housing. @gaz

@pistol ,

First off welcome 🙂

Insure that you are using 2 wrenches to tighten this connection, one on each fitting. I recommend loosening/removing the line 1st, make sure it is clean and then with a wrench on the larger fitting and a wrench on the line fitting, tighten the line into it.

Thanks! Here's a better picture I took of the fitting that is leaking, I'm pointing to it with a scribe. It is leaking from between that fitting and the pump housing, not the hard line. @gaz

Got the fitting off, looks like the inner gasket is damaged. If anyone knows part numbers for this fitting or just the gaskets let me know, thanks!

Looks like both are o-rings. Pop it off and take it to a hydraulics place and they will match it for you.

Welcome to TRS.
Looks like the top one is the culprit -- mishapen.
As an alternate to a hydraulic shop, Harbor Freight sells a box of assorted O-Rings that might have one or two that fit your application.
I've used them before for my Tractor hydrauics and the seem to hold up well.
