Hi, I have what I belive to be between a 98 to 2001 Ranger (The vin says its a 2002 4 banger ... believe it has the '02 body on it ) 4wd with the 3.0 in it. Now I need to replace the line going from the a/c compressor to what i believe is the dryer, anyways its got this special fitting on it, I'm guessing i'll probably need a special tool to remove it, anybody else delt with this ?

You need one of these tools:

You take the correct size, slide it on the line and into the fitting, and pull the hose out while pushing in on the tool.

I think it's just called an AC line/fuel line removal tool.

You can use a tool like this too, I don't have any experience with this type though.

My credo
Failing is easy. Everyone can do it.

It's a decent tool, just used one again on our fuel line. Key is to hold moderate pressure to keep the tool "together" while pushing down---and pulling the line out. It's a good low cost tool.

Suppossed to be a quick disconnect pressure fitting. You can use a couple of screwdrivers, but the tool will make it a lot easier. had to use it on a fuel line once. Don't know why they call it a quick disconnect, you'd think it'd be like an air hose, but it ain't. One of the afore mentioned tools will work.

its not a quick disconnect lol... its a quick connect! just to speed things up at the factory... they don't care about it from there.
